Posted by Lily TalmontPublic Health is a Priority in Westfield
This candidate statement was originally published in the TapInto Westfield on Oct 22nd, 2025.
Public health depends on trust — trust in science, in experts, and in one another. As an experienced clinician and public health advocate, I know that strong, healthy communities are built on that foundation of trust.
Here in Westfield, we are fortunate to be part of the Westfield Regional Health Departmentthat provides shared services to 130,000 residents in nine municipalities. Their work reaches every corner of our community: administering in-home vaccinations to seniors, supporting substance and opioid abuse programs, conducting pool and restaurant inspections, managing rabies control and advancing chronic disease prevention and management.

This letter was originally published in the TapInto Westfield on Oct 22nd, 2025
After eight years of serving our amazing town of Westfield as a member of the Council, I have learned a little bit about the job of being an elected official. It has been an outstanding two terms for me — ones that I wouldn't trade for the world — and in each of my eight years I learned new skills to serve you better.

This candidate statement was originally posted in the Westfield TapInto on October 6th, 2025.
Like many of you, I’m heartbroken by the recent tragic loss of a 13-year-old on an e-bike in Scotch Plains. I’ve heard from so many of you — through messages, conversations and door-knocking—who share the same deep sense of grief and concern. Our community is united in wanting to make sure such a tragedy never happens again.

This candidate statement was originally published in Westfield Tap Into on September 22nd, 2025.
Service has always been at the center of my life - from organizing a Locks of Love hair drive to advocating for public health policies; and combating food insecurity to volunteering at the recent Tour de Westfield. I consistently show up, ready to contribute to every community I’ve belonged to. My decision to run for Town Council is a continuation of my lifelong commitment to serve.

This letter to the editor was originally published in the Westfield Leader on 9/17/25.
It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of support for Reshma Adwar in her pursuit of a Town Council seat in Westfield, NJ.
I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Adwar many years ago while advocating for nutrition and public health policies as delegates of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Posted by Lily TalmontReshma Adwar is Perfect for Ward 1 Town Council
This Letter to the Editor was originally published in the Westfield Leader on September 10th, 2025.
When my dear friend Reshma Adwar told me she was running for Westfield Ward 1 Town Council, I knew she’d be perfect for the job. Reshma is the kind of person who shows up when you need her, remembers the little things that matter, and gives her time generously without being asked. Being close to her family is one of the reasons I moved my own family to Westfield. That’s why I know she will be a councilwoman who brings the same care, followthrough, and reliability to serving our community.

Posted by Lily TalmontAdwar in Action: Celebrating Our Community
This candidate statement originally appeared in the Westfield Leader on July 3rd, 2025.
Since Memorial Day, Westfield has celebrated so many facets of who we are as a community—from Pride and Juneteenth to honoring 150 years of service by the Westfield Fire Department. I’ve been reflecting on how these gatherings are a snapshot of what makes Westfield so special - a place where everyone belongs and every story matters.

Posted by Lily TalmontDespite Harris’s Loss, Women in Local Politics Are Just Getting Started
This article was originally published in the Hi's Eye on May 9th, 2025 and was written by WHS Seniors Mahika Dang and Zoe Urbano.
Last November, many showed up to the polls, cast their ballots and looked to the administration ahead with hope. When the ballots were counted, the image of a country that had elected the first woman of Black and South Asian heritage was washed away and a nation that was prone to political division and systematic barriers began to rise once more to the surface.

This letter to the editor originally appeared in the Westfield Leader on April 30th, 2025
I am writing to enthusiastically endorse Reshma Adwar for Westfield’s Ward One.
Reshma has not only been a close personal friend for the last two decades, but is one of my favorite people. I've celebrated the birth of children with Reshma and her family, spent time together on vacation, and been lucky enough to eat a number of delicious home cooked meals at Reshma's house.
